Shibei is one of Qingdao’s major districts, bordered on the west by Jiaozhou Bay, on the east by Laoshan district, on the north by Licang district, and on the south by Shinan district.

Shibei has a an area of 63.18 square kilometers with a maximum width of 11.5 kilometers from east to west, a maximum length of 9.9 kilometers from north to south, and a coastline of 17.83 kilometers. It has a total population of 1.02 million and a registered population of 865,000. There are 19 streets and 173 communities.

Shibei, where Qingdao city’s industrial and commercial business burgeons, is home to many national industries including brewing and textile, also to the famous extra-large deep water port—Qingdao Port, and a lot of well-known enterprises such as Haier, Qingdao Brewery, and Sifang Factory. The district has rich human resources, a broad consumption market, and a thriving tertiary sector, which contributed 74.1% of Qingdao’s GDP.
