The Qingdao Tourism Bureau recently said that a total of 62.8 million people visited the city in 2013, a ten percent increase compared with the previous year, and total tourism income reached 93.6 billion yuan, an increase of 16 percent.

The tourism bureau continues its efforts to attract visitors, and supports some of the city’s sights which are considered important tourism areas. In addition, the city has also launched several tourism projects, with the assistance of its service system which includes consulting, investment promotion, financing, construction and project operation services.

Qingdao identified 139 key projects in 2013, with planned investment of 280 billion yuan, and 17 projects were finished in 2013 - including Laoshan Taiqing Cultural Square and Hanbilou building.

The leisure resort and exhibition facilities project which covers millions of square meters has been completed ahead of time.

Additionally, a project to upgrade the port’s wharf for international cruise ships was officially accepted and now the project has been underway, and the Diamond Princess cruise ship carrying about 3000 passengers from China and around the world docked at the wharf during the National Day holiday.

Several projects are underway in the city, including the Dagu river comprehensive treatment project, the reconstruction of Zhongshan Road, and a venue for Qingdao’s International Film Festival.

Qingdao invested ten million yuan to improve its public services and infrastructure in 2013, including the establishment of four new tourism information centers and upgrading 53 public toilets.
