 This conference, which was first held in 2001, is China's only international event that caters specifically to foreign experts in China and since its beginning has provided many good opportunities for human resource and technology exchanges. The 13th Conference runs April 18-19, 2015, in the southern city of Shenzhen.

Shenzhen preparing for China foreign talent meeting The city of Shenzhen, Guangdong province hosted a meeting, on Oct 14, 2014 to discuss the 13th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals, scheduled for April of next year , with the head of China's Foreign Expert Affairs Administration on hand to call for better preparations. Shenzhen embracing more international personnel At least 50 overseas Chinese student groups have registered for this year’s CIEP, including the North American Chinese Scholars International Exchange Center (NAEC). Displaying entrepreneurial achievements One Shenzhen foreign expert affairs official commented, “Crowds of people returning from overseas have come to Shenzhen in recent years, with more 50,000 coming by the first of this year. Shenzhen providing rewards for outstanding overseas Chinese CIEP will have 40 million yuan ($6.56 million) to provide as subsidies for enterprises overseas Chinese set up, in Shenzhen, with 32 million yuan of it for start-ups.
