Guyi Garden in Shanghai's Jiading district recently made it onto the list of Shanghai Historic Landscape Conservation Zone, local media reported on Feb 17.
Guyi Garden, built during the reign of Emperor Wanli of the Ming Dynasty (1574-1620), covers an area of nearly 10 hectares and is the largest of Shanghai's five classical Chinese gardens.
It was one of the most famous gardens in South China during the Ming Dynasty and is well-known for its period architecture and stone-paved paths that are lined with flowers.

The garden's continuous efforts to protect and preserve historical and cultural relics have won it the honor of becoming incorporated into the Shanghai Historic Landscape Conservation Zone. It actively maintains its ancient architecture, arranges for experts to maintain its antiques, calligraphic works, paintings and ancient furniture, and continually strives to expand its collection.
Additionally, the garden also focuses on improving its natural landscape by planting a variety of trees and flowers. It holds an abundance of activities such as garden parties and intangible cultural heritage-themed exhibitions to integrate culture and architecture.
