The government of Shanxi province published a series of documents in March to guide the development of the big data industry over the next few years.
According to the documents, the construction of a provincial big data center, a cloud platform for provincial government affairs, and a batch of big data businesses and projects, will commence this year as the primary step of welcoming the big data era in Shanxi.
During the next three years, Shanxi will mainly work on the layout, innovation, technological support, resource sharing, industrial integration and risk control of the industry.
At the same time, the government will promote the application of big data in education, health care, social security and employment to fix existing problems and increase the efficiency of public services.
By the end of 2020, the output value of the big data industry is estimated to hit 100 billion yuan ($145.1 billion), with over two million servers in the province.
To achieve the goal, the government has enacted 25 preferential policies for big data businesses in seven areas including electricity, land, tax, finance, resource sharing, cooperation with government and technological innovation.
The development of the big data industry is expected to be a driving force behind the upgrading and innovation of traditional industries, and the promotion of economic transformation in Shanxi.
