The Shiji pancakes from Daiyue district, Tai'an, East China's Shandong province are made by using a special technique. They are considered to be one of the main staple foods in Daiyue.

Ingredients:

leavened dough

flour

alkaline water

sesame seeds

mix (with hands) leavened dough and flour while adding small amounts of alkaline water

create circular shapes with the dough

sprinkle sesame seeds over the circles, and then roast them over a warm flame until they are fully cooked
