The anti-corruption authorities in Central China's Hubei province have taken back 712 homes that were illegally occupied by local officials.

During a campaign initiated in August, the anti-graft authorities found 2,445 officials violating the rules on clean governance, Hubei Daily reported on Thursday.

The authorities also found a total of 1,073 non-standard government vehicles and 9.01 million yuan ($1.48 million) of problematic public funds, according to the report.

The provincial disciplinary authorities announced the campaign has saved public funds, and expenses for public receptions have dropped by 34.7 percent compared with the same period a year earlier.

The provincial finance department said public expenses for next year will be cut by 5 percent in the budget, the report said.
