Justice department staff went to firecracker markets and nearby villagers’ homes to distribute information about safe production and legal requirements in Wuli county of Shandong province on Jan 18.

The tradition of setting off firecrackers during Spring Festival, which falls on Jan 27 this year, serves to dispel misfortune and bless people with safety.

In that spirit, the staff gave out about 460 packages of legal publicity materials to the general public on the Constitution, regulations on safe use of fireworks and firecrackers, and public security administration punishment law.

The staff especially explained the punishment provisions on production and sale of products inconsistent with the regulations and appealed to vendors to boost their sense of safety and not to break the law for seeking profit.

On-site legal consultation services were also offered to the public. Through explaining the legal provisions in an open public way, the staff helped villagers to safeguard their rights and interests by relying on the law.
