5.1-magnitude quake hits western China

XI'AN: A 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted an area bordering Shaanxi, Gansu and Sichuan provinces in western China Saturday afternoon, local authorities said.

The quake occurred at 4:54 pm. The epicenter is located at 32.8 degrees north latitude and 105.6 degrees east longitude, with a depth of seven kilometers.

The quake took place at a juncture of Ningqiang County in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, Wudu District in Longnan City of Gansu Province and Qingchuan County in southwestern Sichuan Province, according to China's national seismological network.

Tremors were felt in Qingmuchuan Township in Ningqiang as well as Baoji and Xianyang cities, said officials with Shaanxi provincial seismological bureau.

No casualties have so far been reported.
