Huang Chenggen Primary School to mark 100th anniversary

Huang Chenggen Primary School are collecting commemorative articles and
suggestions from its graduates to celebrate the schools 100th anniversary April
1, 2004.
For many years Huang Chenggen Primary School has been the leading force in
English teaching. It firstly gained fame in English teaching by introducing the
idea of 'joy to the classroom', allowing students to take part in listening,
speaking, singing, and playing. Students could put their skills into full play.
Coming into the 1990s, the school's research on methods to inspire active
English study was further improved. The model English classes presented by Huang
Chenggen's teachers were highly commended among all primary school English
teachers in Beijing.
Apart from the in-class English study, the school has carried out colorful
after-school programs to improve students' practical use of the language. The
drama "Cinderella" won the first place in an English drama contest in Xicheng
District, where the school is located.
