Hu lefts Slovakia for Croatia

Updated: 2009-06-19 23:30 BRATISLAVA - Chinese President Hu Jintao left Bratislava, capital of Slovakia on Friday for Croatia to continue his three-nation tour. During his visit, the first by a Chinese head of state to Slovakia, President Hu met with his Slovakian counterpart Ivan Gasparovic and other Slovakian leaders for discussions on further strengthening friendship and expanding bilateral cooperation.
The China-Slovakia relations have developed steadily in recent years with great achievements of cooperation in the political, economic, trade, and cultural sectors. In a written statement issued upon his arrival in the Slovakian capital, Hu said China attaches importance to the development of relations with Slovakia and would work together with the Slovakian side to deepen pragmatic cooperation between the two countries, and to enrich the contents of bilateral ties so as to benefit the two peoples. "My visit, I believe, would promote the mutual understanding of our two countries, enhance the traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and push forward the development of friendly and cooperative ties between China and Slovakia," the president said. Hu flew into Bratislava Thursday from Moscow after concluding a state visit to Russia. Before that, Hu attended a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and a meeting of BRIC countries, namely, Brazil, Russia, India, China, in Yeketerinburg. The Chinese president is going to Croatia for a state visit. |
