Metro Line 2 in Mashhad, Iran, which was designed and constructed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd, was recently completed and was opened to traffic.

At the inaugural ceremony, Sowlat Mortazavi, mayor of Mashhad, thanked the Changchun Railway staff for their contributions to the construction of trains with high-quality, advanced technology and elegant outlook, and announced that the Mashhad government will fulfill their responsibilities for the contract.

Local leaders, members of parliament, journalists, and citizens of Mashhad became the first passengers of the metro and praised the stability, safety, and large space of the train carriage.

"Traffic conditions in Mashhad are terrible and we really need railways to relieve the transport pressure. Thanks to our Chinese friends for offering us such comfortable transportation," a local resident said after he tried the metro.

Metro Line 2 will run 20 trains in total and its highest speed can reach 80 kilometers per hour. The entire line is intended to be completed by May 2017, and the total length will be 13 kilometers, connecting with Line 1 at the Shariati Station.
