ROMEO 1 Project
Romeo is a French humanoid robot designed to assist elderly and disabled people invented by Aldebaran Robotics together with SoftBank Group. The 140-cm robot is intended to deepen research on assistance for disadvantaged people. Its height allows it to open doors, climb stairs, and even grab objects on a table. The Romeo project, which started in early 2009, involves 13 partners and has a budget of 10 million euros ($12.5 million), half of which comes from federal and local French governments. Formed in 2005, Aldebaran has created a family of companion robots to integrate robots into people's daily lives in France, China and the US. The Paris-based company made its fame by producing a small humanoid robot named Nao. It also invented robots for reception, assistance, home care, entertainment, and even autism therapy purposes.
