Spectators get a peek into gala

Some spectators got a feel of what the real show on Aug 8 would be when they saw a rehearsal for the Olympic Games' opening ceremony in the Bird's Nest Wednesday.

Details of the show cannot be reported for obvious reasons, but some of the "ticket-only" spectators said they were dazzled by what they saw.
Two more rehearsals will be held on Aug 2 and 5. About 90,000 people, including athletes, Games' officials, world leaders and spectators will attend the opening ceremony that starts at 8 pm on Aug 8.
The Beijing transport authorities opened 28 special bus routes yesterday to make commuting easy for spectators because they could not drive their vehicles to National Stadium - there are no parking lots near the venue.
The 28 routes are in addition to the existing 48 that travel between the venue and different parts of the city.
The authorities released a traffic control plan, covering 35 sections of roads, for Aug 8. The restrictions will be enforced in different places at different times, starting at 11:30 am and lasting till 8 pm.
During this period, parking will be prohibited along both sides of some roads, including Anli Road, Beichen Road and Badaling Expressway.
