Chinese folk song singer Chen Sisi will give a charity recital at the National Center for the Performing Arts on September 5 to celebrate the opening of the Beijing Paralympic Games, which will run from September 6 to 17.

This will be Chen's debut recital in Beijing. She will sing most of her hit songs, including Beloved Brother Go To South, Chinese Girls, You Moved Me and I Love You China.

The Hunan-born soprano received vocal training at the China Conservatory of Music. In 1995, she rose to fame with the song Beloved Brother Go To South, which is considered one of the trademark works of the so-called "new Chinese folk songs" of the 1990s.

In 2005 the Chinese Music Awards recognized the category of Chinese Folk Songs for the first time, and Chen was the first winner. In 2004 and 2006 she won the CCTV-MTV Music Awards, becoming the only folk singer to win the award twice.

The China Disabled Persons Federation has named her as a Goodwill Ambassador this year.
