The city of Haining and the meaning of 'chao'

Haining is also the hometown of quite a number of celebrities in modern China, such as the famous poet Xu Zhimo popular in the 1920s; modern Chinese-language novelist Jin Yong; and Wang Guowei (1877-1927), a scholar, writer and poet. All are trendsetters in their specialty field during their time, giving a new layer of meaning to chao in the city.
