A smart system has been built for monitoring the operation of school buses in Yushui district, Xinyu, Jiangxi province, and over 50 journalists from national media organziations came to cover its operations on Dec 22.

Since January this year, Xinyu city has installed monitors for around 105 schoolbuses to guaranatee the safety of local children.

Acting as a method of transportation safety, the platform has been running with the functions of capturing video, tracing vehicles, and monitoring drivers.

From January to September, the system detected around 1,160 incidents of traffic violations in Yushui district, including overloading, speeding, and tired driving.

In addition, about nine kindergartens were warned for their traffic violations and two school bus drivers were fired for speeding drive.

During October, traffic violations by school buses in the area decreased by 80 percent compared to the last nine months of this year.

The smart platform has received investment of over 300,000 yuan ($43,200) for basic equipment installation and employment of workers by the Xinyu government, the Yushui district government, and the Meitian Technology Company.
