Admiring peonies on Zhaogong Island

Beautiful blossoming peonies on Zhaogong Island in Sanmenxia Swan Lake National Urban Wetland Park attracted many tourists during China’s Tomb-Sweeping Day holiday. Photo taken on April 6.

According to Li Yunfeng, director of the Wetland Park Management Office, there are roughly 20,000 peonies of 108 kinds on the island, covering nearly 40 mu (2.67 hectares), with 10 percent currently in blossom. The peonies are expected to enter their full-blossom stage this weekend. Traffic control measures will be taken to handle the large number of tourists and vehicles.
