Sanmenxia hosts annual tourism festival and product fair

The 24th Sanmenxia Yellow River Cultural Tourism Festival and the 6th China Specialty Fair opened in Sanmenxia, Central China's Henan province on May 25.

Zhang Zhenyu, vice chairman of the Henan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made an address at the opening ceremony.

Sanmenxia is an important transportation hub along the Yellow River. In order to make the city more attractive, this year's event will closely combine tourism with the city's signature industries and boost regional cooperation, according to Zhang.

Liu Nanchang of the Sanmenxia's municipal Party noted that the previous fairs have become an engine for tourism growth and have promoted friendship between the provinces and cities along the Yellow River and even the regions of Midwest China. This year will bring even higher quality economic development.

Apart from usual activities such as the color run, tent festival and swim across the Yellow River, the city has also decided to host an international innovation and development convention on tourism. Influential speakers will be invited to deliver keynote speeches on the trends of leisure and vacationing in order to further promote the development of all-for-one tourism in Henan province.

During the specialty products fair, enterprises from 18 countries and regions, such as Australia, Mexico, Brazil and Singapore, will display their products at the 680 exhibition booths covering a total area of 16,000 square meters.

The tourism festival has been held for 23 consecutive years and has demonstrated the notable achievements Sanmenxia has scored in recent years as well as its sound investment environment.

Over the last four years, the specialty products fair has laid a foundation for raising the global competitiveness and core competence of Chinese national brands by displaying their latest products and advancing trade and exchange.
