R&D expenditure in Sanmenxia surges in 2017

The research and development (R&D) expense of above-scale enterprises in Sanmenxia stood at 1.16 billion yuan ($170 million) in 2017, with an annual growth rate of nearly 40 percent, the highest in Henan province, according to the statistics released by Sanmenxia statistics bureau.
From the perspective of expense type, the expense of applied research was about 209.2 million yuan, an increase of 218.1 percent compared to 2016. The expense of experimental development was 947.9 million yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 24.5 percent.
In terms of funding sources, business capital was nearly 11.5 trillion yuan, an increase of 43.6 percent, and government funds were about 6 million yuan, with a year-on-year drop of 72 percent. The additional capital was almost 1.8 million yuan, 66.9 percent lower than 2016.
Annual R&D expenditure of above-scale enterprises was about 8.7 million yuan, declining by 61.6 percent compared to 2016. The city also saw the expenditure of 105,000 yuan supporting overseas R&D, the first instance of Sanmenxia-based company funding overseas R&D projects.
