The 2nd Global Programmer's Festival·Silicon Valley, focusing on career planning and value realization by programmers, was held at the Santa Clara Marriot in the United States on Oct 23 local time.

During the event, speakers at the Silicon Valley sub-division shared their views on programmers being a key to social progress and encouraged programmers to contribute to world development by their professional technical skills by video with attendees in the main venue in Xi’an.

The event was intended to provide a platform for global programmers, Internet practitioners, technology innovators and investors to exchange ideas and information about the Internet industry.

The sub-division, set at Silicon Valley, a base of massive number of talents for high-tech innovation, focused mainly on development of programmers themselves.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Gong Minfeng, vice president of Didi travel and the head of the Didi North America Research Institute, affirmed Xi'an’s resource advantages in promoting technological innovations and high-tech developments.

HP’s Vice President of engineering, Uresh Vahalia, shared "a story of a programmer" and encouraged programmers to face challenges and embrace new things.

Paul Kim, associate dean and chief technology officer of the education institute at Stanford University, underlined that the ability to do research on valuable issues is the key to a better future.

The event was jointly sponsored by the Xi’an government and the China Information Technology Industry Federation.

In addition to the Silicon Valley sub-division, activities are also being held in Bangalore, India and Beijing and Nanjing in China.
