2010 is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese lunar calendar. The mascot design is inspired by the zodiac animal of the tiger. The tiger represents braveness and bustling activity.
A rabbit character named Duo Duo, mascot of the 21st Qingdao International Beer Festival, was designed based on the Chinese zodiac animal and made public on July 20.
