With the IAAF world championships being held in China for the first time in the event's 32 year history, a group of talented Chinese athletes is prepared to impress the world on their home soil. Here are six of the best:

Su Bingtian

MEN'S 100M (FINAL BEGINS AT 21:15 ON AUG 23)

Born: Aug 29, 1989

Height: 1.72 m

Weight: 65 kg

As the reigning Asian champ-ion, Su made history by becoming the first Asian-born sprinter to crack the 10-sec barrier in an official race after clocking 9.99 at the Prefontain Classic in Oregon on May 30. After reaching the semifinals at the London Olympics, Su aims to qualify for the 100m final in Beijing to become the first Asian-born athlete to do so at the worlds.

As the leader of China's emerging relay team that clocked 37.99 sec in the 4x100m to smash Japan's regional record at last year's Asian Games, Su is looking for a worlds breakthrough in that event as well.
