Deceased man's driver's license penalized

A woman was shocked to learn that her father was penalized 21 points for traffic offences committed more than a year after he died. The woman surnamed Xu received a text message on Sept 10 informing her of the misdemeanors in East China's Fujian province, Straits Metropolis (mnw.cn) reported on Sunday.

The police also identified that the fines had been paid in three installments by someone else. It is suspected that information of the departed driver's license had been stolen to offset others' traffic violations. Xu canceled her father's driver's license to prevent identity theft.

Detained for falsifying armored car accident

A man was detained for 10 days after pretending to be hit by an armored cash carrier in Mudanjiang, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province on Sept 10, dbw.cn reported last Sunday.

Police said the man rolled intentionally under a moving money transport car. The driver of the vehicle applied the brakes in time and called the police. The police found the man was uninjured and drunk. He allegedly told them that he had been knocked down by the vehicle but was fine. Following an investigation into the matter, the police ruled out any blame on the driver's part and charged the man with "intercepting special vehicles".

Voice prompts stop jaywalking

Infrared sensor voice prompting devices have been installed alongside some zebra crossings in Nanning, South China's Guangxi autonomous region to remind passers-by to obey traffic regulations, Nanguo Morning Post reported on Saturday.

These devices are connected to the traffic lights. If a pedestrian walks across infrared rays ejected by the device when the lights are red, voice prompts are activated to tell them to remain in the safe area.

Sexy 'squat service'

A series of photos showing that airline stewardesses squat on their heels when offering service has triggered online debate, Yangcheng Evening News reported on Saturday. The sexy hostess in the photos exposes her legs under her skirt while squatting.

The so-called "squat service" first appeared on some Asian airlines. The posture helps passengers seated to look at the hostess horizontally, which aims at giving full respect to passengers. Some airlines in China are rumored to be thinking of adopting the squat service on future flights.

Streaking on a highway

A 28-year-old woman ran naked across a highway after a quarrel with her husband in Shangqiu, Central China's Henan province on Sept 14, Dahe News reported on Monday.

Road safety was threatened when drivers applied their brakes to see what was happening. A quick-witted traffic police officer used an umbrella as a cover to accompany the woman off the highway.
