The Youth Orchestra of the City of Hamburg (Landesjugendorchester Hamburg) is the representative orchestra of the city of Hamburg and is one of Germany's oldest Youth Orchestras. During its 48-year-old history many successful musicians emerged from this orchestra and now play in renowned European orchestras and ensembles. The main focus of the Youth Orchestra of the City of Hamburg is the musical promotion of young talents on a very high level as well as the social responsibility to enable the young people to develop their talents even further. Young people aged between 14 and 25 years qualify themselves for membership in the orchestra by an audition.
