Singapore sales people not most keen to close deals: survey

SINGAPORE: Singapore's sales people are not among the most enthusiastic in the Asia-Pacific region in sealing a deal, local media reported on Monday.

According to a survey by performance improvement firm Grass Roots, only 25 percent of salespeople in Singapore made the effort to close a sale, which is half of the average score obtained by their counterparts in the Asia-Pacific, local radio 938live reported.

The survey attributed the result to Singapore's retail methodology, which seems to use features and benefits more than a more direct approach, sales people here were also less likely to make a brand recognition and scored low on establishing and meeting needs, but the survey added that sales people here demonstrated high product knowledge.

The survey was conducted in seven Asia-Pacific markets, including Australia, China and South Korea during the month of June.
