MANILA - Four children were rescued by anti-human trafficking agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in a raid of a cybersex den in Metro Manila, the Philippines' capital region, on Wednesday.

The NBI said the children were asked to perform lewd shows for their clients mostly in the United States, Canada, and European countries.

"This cybersex den involves actual live shows for foreigners. This is not just a call center wherein they will just chat to their clients and after that channel them to another adult website, " said Dante Bonoan, director of the NBI's Anti-Human Trafficking Division.

Bonoan said Philippine authorities raided the apartment in San Roque village, Navotas City after getting a tip from the US Homeland Security Department about the operation of the cybersex den last December.

The NBI arrested two suspects who are believed to be operating the cybersex den. Agents recovered laptops, desktop computers, cameras, and other gadgets from the suspects.

Last month, the Philippine government vowed to crack down on online child pornography after a global operation dismantled a pedophile ring that streamed the sexual abuse of Filipino children over the Internet.
